TettoryBad are Japan’s Masaya Fantasista & Grooveman Spot (aka Tettory BLK) plus London’s Simbad! As they Unite, they created TettoryBad to record an outstanding album. Released only in Japan 2008, Sunshine Enterprises is proud to get the chance to release this wonderful gem worldwide.

It’s a great album, stepping between many styles but always keeping the balance and the flow. Featuring a bunch of live-instruments, the album drifts from hip-hop – check Don’t Push Me feat. England’s finest MC, the man Ty – to NuSoul and NuJazz – Short Love Tale with London’s Young Gun and Japans Mika Arisaka and Yuri or Ruff & Tuff feat. the wonderful Paul Randolph (making waves as solo-artist as well as with his vocal blessing of Jazzanova tracks) are good examples – to jazz-influenced electronic instrumentals and broken beat stuff – check It’s Your Time feat. the great Shea Soul who just worked with Phil Asher on various projects. At the end of the album waits another true highlight – the mighty title-track, Unite, feat. latest sensation Fatima on vocals!

A true musical highlight finally gets the attention it deserves!

The title track “Unite” was already licensed to Karen P.’s compilation “Broadcasting”, out on Sonar Kollektiv 2008, and the track “Ruff & Tuff” was just licensed to Mercedes-Benz TV for their homepage feature “Mixed-Tape”.

Hailing from the mountains of the Southwest United Crates of America, a sound physician was born. Making drum kits out of trash cans, empty paint barrels, and whatever the hell else made noise, Chad Dixon aka Drop Logik aka Crate Diggler, began rearranging sound from an early age. Moving on to simply looping beats from dual cassette decks to buying his first sampler and drum machine and so on and so forth. It’s always been an outlet of inner combustion ready to be released into your headphones. Now is the time to press play!
Hot Box Studies bangs out space age mental gymnastics with crunchy samples and syncopated beats. Musical movements are cut together with turntablist acumen across a deep abyss of sound as swirly interludes play between the loftier scores. Stand out picks include the cut-em-up-flapper “Hear To Wear”, the sultry big beat “Get!Get!”, and the outer space gospel “Out Of My Head.” Finally,“Smoke Ring Dreams” brings us home and serves as your well deserved introduction to the one and only Crate Diggler.

Sandman feat. Jeremy Ellis

Feed Your Mind

FastFWD continues its path of envelope-pushing dance music that defies genre, tip-toeing through house, broken beat, and jazzier sounds. The imprint’s fourth release finds the unleashing of another fiery project featuring the combined talents of Sandman and Jeremy Ellis. You may recall Sandman’s well-received « Latin Fire, » previously released on FastFWD. Here the accomplished multi-instrumentalist teams up with producer/songwriter Jeremy Ellis (Ubiquity Records), renowned for his own oeuvre as well as his work as Ayro. The fruit of their labor is « Feed Your Mind, » a sexy prescription of analog synthesizers, pianos, and keyboards mixed with a healthy dose of adept drum programming. The highlight of the track has to be Ellis’ wonderful vocals, sending out a lyrical message of openness, freedom of expression, and purification through music. Choice stuff.

Jeremy Ellis himself adds a remix of « Feed Your Mind » filled with tasty breakbeat rhythms and sparse instrumentation underneath the vocal line. The rhythm is the key here, and it’s beautifully effective on funkier dancefloors. The next remix is the collaboration of FastFWD’s own Riverside and John Beltran, a producer with a long and illustrious history balancing the worlds of techno, jazz, and more ambient offerings. This more straight-forward housier treatment is filled with vibe and soul, powered by a strong bassline and musical percussion.
